How Our counsellors & Instructors Keep Children Safe at Educamps Adventures
Parents want to know exactly who is looking after their children — and at Educamps Adventures, safety is built into every role on our team.
From our residential counsellors to our activity instructors, each team member is trained, vetted, and fully committed to creating a safe, supportive environment for every child and teen.
This guide explains how our people — not just our facilities — make our camps some of the safest in the UK.
1. Fully Trained Residential Counsellors On-Site 24/7
Our residential counsellors live on-site throughout the camp, offering constant support and supervision
They are trained in:
Child safeguarding (Level 1–3 depending on role)
Emergency response procedures
Supporting homesickness and emotional wellbeing
Nighttime supervision and incident management
Daily wellbeing checks
Every dorm area has a counsellor assigned to it, ensuring young people always have someone they can turn to — at any time of day.
2. Expert Activity Instructors With Specialist Qualifications
Our activity instructors hold nationally recognised qualifications depending on their discipline, including:
Paddle Sport Instructor (British Canoeing)
Climbing Wall Instructor / Rock Climbing Leader
Archery GB Leader Qualification
Fencing Leader Qualification
Outdoor First Aid (16-hour minimum)
Lifeguard training
These qualifications mean activities aren’t just fun — they’re delivered with professional oversight and precise safety standards.
3. Rigorous Safeguarding & DBS Checks
Every team member undergoes:
Enhanced DBS checks
Reference checks
Safeguarding training before camp
Daily briefings on wellbeing and welfare
Safeguarding is at the heart of our operations, and children’s safety always comes before schedules or activities.
4. Leaders Assigned to Every Group
Throughout the week, children stay with the same group leaders — helping them build trust and feel supported.
Group leaders ensure:
Headcounts before and after every activity
Safe transitions between zones
Encouragement and emotional support
Someone always knows where each child is
This creates stability and safety in a new environment.
5. Constant Communication With Parents
Parents receive:
Emergency contact numbers
Arrival and departure instructions
24/7 contact with the DSL team
Regular communication through leaders if needed
You’re never left guessing — you’ll always know your child is safe, happy, and cared for.
