Tony’s 630 Mile Challenge: Walking the South West Coast Path for Vulnerable Children
This Spring, Tony, a dedicated mentor working with Educamps Adventures, is taking on an extraordinary 630 mile challenge: walking the entire South West Coast Path from Minehead to Poole Harbour to raise £3,000 for vulnerable children in Alternative Provision.
The South West Coast Path is one of the UK’s most demanding long-distance trails. Covering 630 miles of rugged coastline, the route includes more than 115,000 feet of ascent and descent. It’s the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest four times.
While most walkers complete the trail in around 52 days, Tony is aiming to finish it in just 40 days.
But this challenge is about far more than endurance.
Why Tony Is Doing This
Tony works as a mentor supporting children in Alternative Provision. Many of the young people he works with have experienced disruption or exclusion from mainstream school. Often there are wider challenges involved like difficult home circumstances, mental health struggles, trauma, or significant gaps in learning.
These experiences can leave young people feeling overlooked, lacking confidence and missing out on opportunities that help them grow.
From Tony’s experience, time outdoors can be transformational. Stepping away from classroom pressures and into outdoor challenges gives young people space to rebuild confidence, develop resilience and experience success.
That’s why Tony is raising funds to support Summer Adventure Camp places with Educamps Adventures.

How Your Support Will Help
Educamps Adventures provides tailored outdoor learning experiences for children and young people, including those in Alternative Provision.
At Summer Adventure Camp, young people can take part in:
Climbing
Raft-building
Mountain biking
Kayaking
Team-building challenges
Outdoor survival skills
In a supportive and inclusive environment, young individuals learn real, practical skills that stay with them long after camp ends. Away from the pressures and struggles they often face at home or in school, they are given space to reset, refocus and grow. Through outdoor education, they develop resilience, communication, problem-solving abilities and teamwork, while achieving things they may never have believed possible – Helping them see themselves differently and begin to believe in the person they can become.

The Summer Holiday Gap
During the summer holidays, young people in Alternative Provision receive no Local Authority funding. For those already facing difficult circumstances, this can be a particularly vulnerable time.
While many children enjoy enriching summer camps and adventures, others miss out completely.
Tony’s 630 mile challenge on the South West Coast Path aims to change that.
Every donation will go directly towards funding Summer Camp places for children who otherwise would not have access to these opportunities.
